Mole removal through Diathermy

Mole removal through Diathermy
Mole removal through Diathermy
When pigment cells overgrow, it results in formation of a skin mole. Skin mole can be brown in color or the same color as the surrounding skin. Earlier the surgical treatments were the only option for removing skin moles from the body. The process was invasive and involved cutting skin from the effected area as well as the surrounding area. Because the procedure was invasive, it often led to formation of scars after the treatment. It happened more than often that the leftover scar looked worse than the mole itself. Before we move forward and discuss weather you should get a mole removed or not we should first throw some light on what actually the moles are and what causes them to develop.

Today we have more than enough methods available to remove the mole from your body, you should consult the dermatologist to analyze the available option and decide which one suits best for your skin. There is a difference between the two terms, i.e." mole removal" and " mole treatment" however both of them should result in lowering the visibility of skin mole.

Most mole removal methods involve surgically cutting the mole from the skin. Some people have moles which are raised above the skin surface, where as some people have flat moles. Some moles have roots below the surface of the skin. Few surgical mole removal techniques involve use of cauterization to stop the bleeding during the procedure and also to close the wound. Moles can also be cauterized using diathermy so as to reduce the visibility of the mole. This method is different from others, as technically the mole has not been removed but it is also no more visible. This is achieved because of the following reasons:

1) If the mole is raised, through diathermy, it is  bought to the level of skin.

2) Secondly, it removes the dark complexion of moles, trying to make it look similar to the surrounding skin. Moles are dark in complexion, because they are made up of melanocytes. These cells produce melanin to give color to our skin, and when these melanin cells sum up in a smaller area, skin moles are formed. Through diathermy these cells are killed, making the mole to lose its dark color.

Which method is best for you will depend on the fact that for what reason you are trying to get rid of the mole. If you are removing it just for the cosmetic results then diathermy will be the best solution in your case. Using this method you will not be required to undergo surgery. This method also reduces any risk of scar formation and infections, which are associated with invasive surgery for mole removal. On the other hand if you are removing a mole for medical reasons then diathermy will not be a viable option as technically it does not remove the mole from your body.
